The Jigawa State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, JSPCACC, has urged the general public to support the agency with vital information towards its efforts to ensure a corruption-free society.
JSPCACC Chairman Barrister Salisu Abdu made the call while briefing newsmen on occasion of Commemoration International Anti-Corruption Day, held in his office at Dutse the state capital.
He said the Commission has received a total of 479 complaints since its inception in 2023 out of which 110 cases are corruption and financial crime, breach of trust, cheating and fraud, as well as funds and property recovery.
Abdu added that the Commission also succeeded in recovery of a total sum of N385, 494,602.33 for both government and private individuals and corporate entities.
The Commission has filed and prosecuted 20 cases at the magistrate and State High Court, and also arrested and invited numerous senior government officials and contractors charged with various offenses.
“The fight against corruption requires every pillar of the state and society to function optimally.
“We appeal for the swift and continuous hearing of corruption cases. Justice delayed poses a major risk to asset recovery and erodes public confidence. We pledge to only present meticulously investigated, court-ready files to minimize procedural delays.
“You are the eyes and ears of our democracy. Continue to use your freedom of expression responsibly to expose wrongdoing. Do not pay bribes, and do not accept them.
“Utilize our Whistleblower Protection Policy (WPP) and report through our dedicated channels, your partnership is invaluable, and your identity will be protected,” he said.
