​Rebondissement in the case of the murder of Omar Lamine Badji: his family demands the arrest of Alain A. Diédhiou, rented from France 

  El Hadj Omar Lamine Badji, former president of the Regional Council of Ziguinchor and well-known political figure of the Fogny, remains at the heart of an unsolved drama. Nearly twenty years after the events, his family resumes the case and appeals to the judicial authorities. On Sunday 3 August 2025, the Badji family raised its voice again to demand all the light on the circumstances of this brutal death. Informed of return to Senegal by M. Alain Alassana Diédhiou, named in the initial investigation, requests the Procureur de la République to proceed immediately to his arrest. “Judged in absentia because of his absence from the national territory, Mr Alain Alassana Diédhiou had been cited by the first presumed assassins of my brother, the late Omar Lamine Badji”, declared Seydou Badji, spokesman for the family. “At the time, he had fled the country thanks to complicity in the shadows, embarking for France where he had settled in Avignon, in 2008. I’m not sure. Always according to M. Badji, the family has today reliable information on Alain’s return.
