According to the daily Libération, the affair involving the journalist and press patron Madiambal Diagne has a new twist. Interpol had validated the arrest warrant filed through its National Central Bureau (BCN) in Dakar. The lawyers of M. Diagne had seized the Chambre d’accusation financière in order to request the nullity of the international arrest warrant issued against their client. They also request the suppression of the Interpol red notice and the annulment of the indictment against Serigne Saliou Diagne. According to the information reported by Libération, the case also concerns requests for’repatriation’ made by the judge in charge of the case, as well as three managers of the Ellipse company named in the proceedings. The development of this case arouses great interest in judicial and media circles, while the defense of Madiambal Diagne denounces “procedural irregularities” and demands strict respect for the rights of the defence.
