
The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the nomination of Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, as a non-career ambassador.
The Red Chamber also confirmed the nomination of Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, a former INEC chairman, as a non-career ambassador
The Senate also confirmed the nomination of all career and non-career ambassadors submitted by President Bola Tinubu, except for the nominee from Yobe, who passed away.
Recall that the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs had last week screened Omokri as ambassador-designate.
Omokri was confirmed after a shouting match between senators Adams Oshiomhole and Ali Ndume during the screening process.
Same week, Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister and Bello Dambazzau was asked to “take a bow and go” during their separate screenings.
The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, acknowledged their past clearance and experience.
Fani-Kayode was a two-time Minister of Information and Aviation while Dambazzau was an Interior Minister.
