House of Representatives member who represents Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency, Mascot Ikwechegh, has resigned from the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
His resignation was contained in a letter he submitted to the APGA Ward Chairman in Eziama Ward 1, Aba North Local Government Area, on Saturday.
In the letter, Ikwechegh thanked the party for the opportunity to serve and wished it success in its future endeavours.
However, Ikwechegh did not indicate his next political party of choice.
The House of Reps member’s resignation happened a few days after all Local Government executives and ward officials resigned en masse from APGA in Aba North and Aba South.
With his resignation, APGA has lost its remaining lawmaker from Abia State, as Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe had quit the party in December 2025.
When contacted by DAILY POST for reaction, Abia State Chairman of APGA, Sunday Onukwubiri, said that his office had not been communicated about the reported resignation.
Onukwubiri said that his party is formidable and strong and would not regret anybody’s exit.
“It is bad that people throw away the ladder they used in climbing up to prominence, but I can assure you that APGA will remain stronger and more united in Abia,” Onukwubiri said.
