​Repression in Senegal: 81% of victims killed by bullets from March 2021 to February 2024 

  Le collectif citoyen CartograFreeSenegal published on 4 March a report detailing the fatal consequences of the repression of political demonstrations in Senegal between March 2021 and February 2024. This documentation effort, fruit of the work of journalists and data experts, reveals that of the 65 protesters who died during this period, 51 were shot, representing a tragedy for 81% of the victims. A sad balance sheet which underlines the diversity of the profiles of the victims. Students accounted for 27.5% of the victims, followed by businessmen who represented 12%. This distribution reveals the wide and varied social impact of this repression, affecting several layers of Senegalese society.
