The activist, Pape Abdoulaye Touré, torture victim and founding member of the Initiative Zero Impunity (IZI), denounced this weekend “the inertia and refusal of the State of Senegal to shed light on the crimes committed during the protests of 2021 to 2024 “.. In a communiqué transmitted to Kéwoulo M. Touré indicated having had a long interview with the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT), based in Geneva. “This meeting was an opportunity to explain in detail the facts, but above all to denounce the inertia and refusal of the State of Senegal”, he said, adding that “our dossier is following its course at the international level and, in the coming days, concrete acts will be taken against the State of Senegal for non-respect of its international commitments “… On a national level, the activist regrets that the declarations of the Minister of Justice, Ousmane Diagne, have remained unanswered. “It is now more than 17 days since the Minister of Justice declared that he had instructed the Prosecutor General of the Court of Appeal of Dakar to instruct the Prosecutor of the Republic to initiate proceedings against any person involved”, recalled Pape Abdoulaye Touré. “But to date, no concrete act has been taken. Neither the victims, nor the families of the martyrs, nor even the alleged criminals and their commanders have been heard or audited”, he added. Faced with what he calls the “disturbing silence of the judicial authorities”, Pape Abdoulaye Touré assures that his movement will continue the fight against impunity.
