Le député Guy Marius Sagna has revealed a clear increase in revenues linked to the exploitation of audiovisual frequencies in Senegal. According to the electorate, Radio France Internationale (RFI), which paid up to now only 10 million FCFA per year for the use of its nine frequencies, must now pay an amount of 675 million FCFA. On the other hand, Radio Chine Internationale, which has two frequencies, will now pay 150 million FCFA to the public treasury. In total, “the media sector will bring a little over 5 billion CFA francs to the Treasury this year, compared to less than 100 million previously”, a député à l’assemblée nationale stressed. “This is a concrete example of the change of governance promoted by the patriots”, he said, welcoming this new orientation which aims at a better fiscal justice and a more rigorous management of public resources.
