A legal practitioner, Festus Ogwuche, says former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, should not be the person to be held responsible for intercepting the telephone of the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.
Ogwuche, who is the President, Campaign for Social Justice and Constitutional Democracy in Africa, said this on Wednesday while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television.
According to him, El-Rufai can only be held responsible if he is an accessory or there has been a conspiracy on his part.
Recall that El-Rufai admitted that he and others listened to the telephone conversations of the NSA after tapping his phone.
Airing his own opinion, Ogwuche said, “I still have some reservations in the sense that El-Rufai may not be the actual person to be held responsible or to be culpable of that crime.
“Except if he is an accessory after the fact, or there has been a conspiracy on his part because he said he got knowledge about the interception.
“It depends on the fallout of the investigation, which must be thorough and laid on very solid ground as to attract a proper judicial scrutiny.”
