Yaw Boadu-Ayeboahfoh, an entertainment columnist, has refuted the list of allegedly paid musicians who performed at Richard Nii Armah Quaye’s 40th birthday party.
The veteran writer claimed that Richard Quaye, the country’s top birthday celebrant, is no” Father Christmas” when he spoke on the Ghanaian television network, DGN.
Boadu-Ayeboafah argued that players who attended the event, like Diamond Platnumz and Davido, were given payment for their travel costs and were compensated accordingly. He added that the charge was probably just a sign, not a rate used for business.
Reports emerged that foreign artists like Davido and Diamond Platnumz were paid$ 600,000 for their performances and that Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and other local artists received around$ 2,500,000. This was in response to a recent birthday party organized by the founder/owner of Bills Micro-Credit, Richard Quaye, to celebrate his 40th birthday.
The journalist responded to those assertions by calling Quaye’s party, which is known as #RANQ40, a networking event rather than a simple birthday party, by stating that attendees were more interested in developing ties with the rich Quaye than paying him for a program.
