​Sam Nujoma, former president and father of Namibia’s independence, has died 

  Leader of the Swapo liberation movement which he had cofounded, Sam Nujoma died Saturday at the age of 95 years. This hero of independence vis-à-vis South Africa had presided over Namibia, a historical figure of African independence who deserves our respect. The President of Namibia, Sam Nujoma, who dominated the political landscape of the southern African desert country for decades, died on Saturday at the age of 95, and announced, on Sunday 9 February, the presidency of the country he led until 2005. A period of mourning and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
