Kwa-Thema – Kwa-Thema Crime Prevention members approached three men on Lecia Street on January 8 at about 23:30 and noticed one was nervous.
“The members asked to search the trio, who agreed to the search. The members discovered a firearm on one of them. The man was arrested after finding he had no licence to possess the firearm.
“The firearm with a scratched serial number will be forwarded for ballistics testing to determine whether it is linked to any other crimes,” said Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Constable Nkululeko Magudulela.
The Kwa-Thema SAPS station commander, Colonel Nhlanhla Kunene, applauded the team’s actions, saying another firearm had been taken off the streets and the community was much safer.
