Durban – One person has been killed and three others injured in an early morning car crash on Prince Alfred Street and Monty Naicker Road in the Durban CBD.
“Just after 5 am on Saturday morning, ALS Paramedics arrived on scene to find chaos and carnage,” reports spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.
“Two vehicles had collided in the junction before one overturned, coming to rest on its roof.
“Multiple casualties were found, and immediately more Ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist.”
Jamieson said once triaged, paramedics found a passenger from the overturned vehicle, a male believed to be in his 30s, had sustained major injuries.
“Unfortunately, there was nothing paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased on the scene,” Jamieson said.
“A further three occupants from both vehicles had sustained various injuries, and once stabilised on the scene, they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.”
Metro Police were also on the scene of the crash.

Jamieson said in another deadly crash earlier on Friday, 23 January 2026, a biker lost his life in Durban North.
“Just after 08:30 pm on Friday evening, ALS Paramedics responded to a serious crash on the M4 Northern Freeway North Bound before the Broadway offramp,” Jamieson said.
On arrival, paramedics found that a biker had crashed.
“Paramedics found the biker, a male believed to be in his late 40s, had sustained fatal injuries,” Jamieson said.
