During the opening ceremony of the first Conference of Public Administrators and Managers (CAMP), held on Monday 20 January at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Centre (CICAD) in Diamniadio, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, highlighted the issues of exemplary governance and performance of public entities. Speaking before a panel of experts and public officials, he underlined that ‘a strategic State confers delegations to public entities, but it ensures the exemplarity of their governance and performance’. As reported by Sud Quotidien, the President stressed the importance he attaches to the strict and effective management of the public sector. He urged the Prime Minister to ensure the rigorous application of the law of 19 April 2022 on the public sector. This legislation, designed to rationalise the portfolio of public enterprises, aims in particular at: Optimize the use of public resources; Strengthen control of the interventions of parapublic entities; Ensure their effective contribution to the creation of added value for the benefit of the nation. “I recall the requirement for the deliberative and executive organs of public sector entities to adhere strictly to their prerogatives”, he said, insisting on the discipline and responsibility of the governing bodies. President Diomaye Faye also stressed the need for increased vigilance in the management of public enterprises. According to him, these entities should be administered in accordance with the best international standards.
