Security arrests 28-year-old man for alleged stealing of mini bus in Edo

The Edo State Security Corps, ESSC, has arrested a 28-years-old man identified as Edet Friday for alleged stealing of a mini bus in the State.

DAILY POST gathered that the mini bus belonged to a Pastor who leased it to him for commercial purposes on a daily payment.

It was learnt that the suspect was arrested by the Corps while trying to sell the bus at Ahor bypass area of Benin City.

The suspect was alleged to have disappeared with the bus a few days after, the owner (Pastor) handed over the vehicle to him.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the Pastor reported the matter to the Police who declared the bus and the suspect missing.

He alleged that the suspect hid the bus for two weeks while seeking for a buyer to purchase the bus.

The source further alleged that when the suspect couldn’t get the buyer, he took the bus to scavengers at Ahor near the bypass to be sold to spare parts dealers

It was learnt that the scavengers had already removed the doors, fuel tank and other components of the vehicle before operatives of the Corps stormed the area and started questioning the spare parts dealers.

The suspect who couldn’t give a satisfactory response was alleged to have confessed that the bus was given to him by a Pastor for commercial purposes but wanted to sell it.

Confirming the incident, the Corps Deputy Commander, Operations, Richard Balogun, vowed that there is no hiding place for criminals in the State.

Balogun explained that the suspect had started vandalizing the vehicle to be sold as spare parts before he was arrested by operatives of the Corps.

He said the suspect has been handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution
