In a visit to Ziguinchor, the Director-General of the Agence nationale des affaires maritimes (ANAM), Bécaye Diop, announced the creation of a defence platform dedicated to the protection of the Senegalese coasts. This initiative aims at strengthening the coordination between ANAM, the gendarmerie and the marine nationale in order to combat effectively piracy, insecurity and maritime banditry. “We must join our efforts to guarantee the maritime sovereignty of Senegal. This platform will allow a more rapid and better coordinated response to the threats that are present on our coasts”, he declared. The surveillance of illegal maritime activities. The improvement of cooperation between the various forces engaged in the protection of Senegalese waters This initiative is part of a global maritime security strategy, aimed in particular at combating the illegal exploitation of fisheries resources by foreign vessels.
