A Gambian national was arrested at the Banjul airport in possession of more than 2153 000 ecstasy tablets hidden in his luggage. This seizure marks one of the most important operations against synthetic drugs in West Africa, according to information reported by our confrères de Sud Quotidien. The agents of the airport police have arrested Saikou Krubally, a Spanish resident, with 128,745 ecstasy pills distributed in three suitcases. An official of the DLEAG stated that the suspect had been under surveillance since his arrival on a SN Brussels Airlines flight, and his arrest had taken place at around 8pm near the traffic light in Sukuta. This seizure is part of a series of successful operations recently carried out by the Gambian anti-drug services, as highlighted by the DLEAG to the Sud Quotidien. In addition to the seizures, more than 215 000 ecstasy pills were confiscated in three months, in addition to significant quantities of cocaine and hashish. The management of the DLEAG encourages the population to participate actively in the fight against drug trafficking by reporting any suspicious activity.
