The Senegalese government has announced the partial lifting of the ban on the export of peanut seeds, which had been in force since October 2024. This decision, communicated by the Ministry of Agriculture, follows the positive results of the agricultural campaign 2024-2025, marked by a collection deemed satisfactory, thus guaranteeing a sufficient supply for local oil mills and seeds destined for national production. The relaxation of the ban will be effective from 25 March to 15 June 2025, but it excludes seeds intended for seed. The government has set strict conditions for this reopening of the market. Exports must comply with the quality standards laid down by the Directorate of Plant Protection and the regulatory framework in force. Moreover, a price floor has been imposed to avoid any speculation, and the currency generated by these exports will have to be repatriated in accordance with the established directives.
