​Senegal: Reformers and conservatives, the eternal battle for change 

  Senegal has always oscillated between reformist leaders, who want to bring about real change, and a conservative elite seeking to maintain the established order. In both cases, a part of the Senegalese population, instead of supporting these reformers, found itself, voluntarily or involuntarily, serving the interests of those who oppressed them. Two attempts at transformation in the depths of Senegal. Mamadou Dia: the self-centred development and the rigor. At independence, Mamadou Dia embodied a progressive and rigorous vision of economic development. It advocates a model based on economic planning, food self-sufficiency, local industrialization and the true emancipation of the country vis-à-vis France.
