The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, today held an interview with M. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, on the occasion of the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations The Secretary-General welcomed the excellence of relations between Senegal and the United Nations, highlighting the leadership and commitment of Senegal and President Faye, on multilateralism and on the great challenges in Africa and in the world. He stressed that Africa remained an essential priority for the UN, particularly in the perspective of a reform of the international financial system for more justice and equity for the benefit of the peoples. President Diomaye held a meeting with Mr Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the UN. The two leaders welcomed the excellent relations between Senegal and the UN and reaffirmed their commitment to a renewed, more just and more humane multilateralism at the service of the peoples. The President, for his part, reaffirmed Senegal’s commitment to a renewed, more humane, more effective and respectful of the dignity of peoples multilateralism. The two leaders finally welcomed the dynamics of the process of redeployment of UN agencies at the Maison des Nations de Diamniadio.
