​Shipwreck of a migrant canoe in Tivaouane: 96 people rescued near Khondio 

  A canoe carrying 96 candidates for illegal emigration was stranded on Tuesday on the beach of the village of Khondio, in the department of Tivaouane (west). On board the vessel were seventy-eight Malians (72 men and 6 women), six Gambians (4 men and 2 women), five Guineans and seven Senegalese, APS learned from security sources. Partie from Bakau in Gambia in the night of Friday 21 November towards 2 o’clock in the morning, the canoe was finally échoué off Khondio, in the commune of Darou Khoudoss. Alerted by the inhabitants, the Mboro gendarmerie brigade immediately went to the scene to proceed to the rescue of the shipwrecked. The rescued persons were taken to the Mboro territorial gendarmerie brigade where they are currently receiving appropriate care and are the subject of the statutory hearings. An investigation was opened in order to determine the exact circumstances of this attempted migration and to identify the possible organisers of this irregular crossing.
