The Ekhaya Shopping Centre in Tsakani donated 1 400 pairs of school shoes to Langaville Primary school on Monday.

Tsakani – The Ekhaya Shopping Centre donated 1 400 pairs of school shoes to Langaville Primary School on February 10.

Last year, the centre donated 1 500 pairs of school shoes to Ntokozweni Primary School and decided to do the same initiative in Langaville.

Centre manager Mosala Mofokeng said the initiative came after seeing the children’s needs when going to the centre after school.

Many came to school without proper school shoes.

“These children are our biggest supporters at the centre, and the best way to thank them is by helping them with what they need most. Many come from underprivileged backgrounds and cannot afford school shoes. Each pair donated to this school will boost each child’s confidence, unite them and make them feel included,” he said.

He said these shoes would be a relief to parents who cannot make ends meet, adding that these shoes do not require shoe polish and are convenient to wear.

He also encouraged men to spend money wisely and attend to their children’s needs before pleasing themselves.

School representatives receive the school shoes from the Ekhaya Shopping Centre manager.

“This school’s 2024 matric results further pleased us, and we want their children to stay motivated, focused and dedicated to achieving good results.

“In future, we intend to adopt this school under our care, provide for its needs and fund the children’s educational needs such as bursaries, among others,” he added.

Parent and school student governing body member Teddy Handricks-Lipholo said, “From a parent’s perspective, I am happy. This contribution will make a huge difference in the learning environment.”

Deputy principal Khutso Phala said they were grateful for the helping hand.

“Many of our learners need school uniforms. The shoes donated to the school will make an impactful difference to the learners in great need. Many suffer from an inferior complex due to their status and needs. These donated school shoes will unite and unify our children.

“Thank you to the Ekhaya Shopping Centre for coming on board and helping our learners. This is social responsibility at its highest level,” said Phala.

He said the school also needs sponsorship for its matric class on session initiation protocol programmes.

“The sponsorship seeks to subsidise teachers because many come from far. These classes have commenced,” he concluded.
