President John Dramani Mahama‘s candidate to serve as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, the Member of Parliament for Krowor, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has revealed that she plans to advocate for parentage left. According to the Krowor MP, she thinks fatherhood leave is also important nevertheless, she only has small doubts about the coverage because she’s not certain if men may actually be home with their wives or just use the free time to do something else. During her vetting, Agnes Lartey said: “ I would love to advocate for paternity leave, but it will be interesting if they spend time with their family if they take such leave, ” View this post on Instagram A post shared by TV3 Ghana ( @tv3_ghana ) Social media users disagreed with her plan with many calling for her to increase maternity leave instead, which is only three months in Ghana. “ I think it ’s 6months pregnancy keep we the people are advocating for thus let’s get that done first before looking at this position of fatherhood left, ” one person said.
