The day served as an opportunity for professionals from branches including Benoni, Boksburg, Alberton, Actonville, Springs, Heidelberg, and Geluksdal to relax and bond with each other.

Auxiliary and social workers from various Ekurhuleni child welfare branches recently took a break from their demanding schedules to celebrate and reflect on their hard work.

They gathered at a field opposite the House of the Lord Church in Airfield as they marked Social Workers Day, observed annually on March 18.

The day served as an opportunity for professionals from branches including Benoni, Boksburg, Alberton, Actonville, Springs, Heidelberg, and Geluksdal to relax and bond with each other.

The groups participated in ice-breaking games which set the tone for the day, encouraging teamwork, laughter, and a spirit of unity among the attendees.

Meena Mistry, CEO of Shivdev Academy, a healthcare management company, empowered the professionals with valuable tools from their books Revive, Revitalize, Recreate as part of their Coffee and Wellness session.

Having fun at the Social Workers Day commemoration event held at a field opposite the House of the Lord Church in Airfield are social workers from the Alberton Child Welfare.

During the interactive session, Mistry provided powerful strategies to overcome stress, breathing techniques, and tips on how they can boost their well-being.

“Coffee and Wellness is a holistic platform that seamlessly blends wellness principles derived from our authored books into a comprehensive and engaging experience.

“Our goal is to foster a culture of wellness and fun through interactive sessions, mindful tools, and social connections. This initiative not only promotes mental and physical well-being but also creates an environment where individuals can thrive and support each other,” said Mistry.

Benoni Child Welfare director Vanessa Carelse said the session aimed to encourage social workers because their job is stressful and challenging.

“The celebration is about recognising the hard work and sacrifices made by social and auxiliary workers,” said Carelse.
