Soludo’s efforts to address insecurity too slow – Anambra guber candidate

John Nwosu, a candidate for the Labour Party in the Anambra 2025 election, has criticized the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is being criticized for the alleged slow response to the increasing insecurity in the state. During the holiday season, there have been reports of kidnappings, including that of Justice Azuka, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North State Constituency 1, which occurred on Christmas Eve. In response, Nwosu commented, “It is clear that the Soludo administration has failed to prioritize what is important for the people of Anambra.” “Statistics show a significant decline in the number of people returning to Anambra for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year celebrations.” “Interestingly, for reasons not explained, the state government has announced it will implement measures to address insecurity starting in January 2025.” This appears to be an instance of doing things in the wrong order. Soludo recently announced that his government intends to initiate a joint security operation called Operation Udo Ga Achi in late January. However, Nwosu questions why Soludo is delaying until then, suggesting that December is when many locals return home for Christmas, indicating a misallocation of priorities. He expressed embarrassment over the ongoing disappearance of a prominent Anambra cleric and noted that an Onitsha North member of the Anambra State Assembly was kidnapped on Christmas Eve. Nwosu believes that Anambra residents cannot continue to support a governor who treats security measures like social events. He emphasized that state security should be a continuous effort backed by a solid commitment and the necessary resources, personnel, and equipment. He insists that the current government must not compromise the safety and security of the state and its citizens. We cannot be separated from our homeland. Veranderingen zijn nodig.
