Sonko: “The only real challenge in Senegal is the economy, not the politics”

At the launch of the second phase of the project to support and promote the entrepreneurial initiatives of women and young people (Pavie 2), the Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko delivered a muscular speech, calling for a move beyond political disputes to focus on the real challenge of Senegal: economic transformation. “Our country has only one problem: what we have not been able to do for 65 years. This is the economic challenge. We must now concentrate all our efforts to meet this challenge, because we have the potential, the skills, the enthusiasm and the determination”, he said, in a tone both solemn and offensive. Without naming his opponents, the head of government clearly responded to the criticisms of the opposition, which he accused of manipulating public opinion: “Our country has no political problem. Some go around the media to make people believe the opposite. There is nothing.
