Situated in the heart of the Sine, in the Delta du Saloum, a few kilometres from Foundiougne, the village of Soum, erected as a commune in 2018, displays, beyond its rich cultural diversity, a very rare socio-religious peculiarity. Indeed, if in some localities of Senegal there is still debate over the right or not of a Christian or Muslim to attend the funeral of a relative, friend or relative of opposite faith, in Soum, this belief is not current. A typical example of the Islamic-Christian dialogue that the inhabitants of this locality implanted by Mbapp Youngar Sarr intend to maintain and safeguard for future generations.
