With the relationship between the US and South Africa deteriorating, South Africa is getting ready to suggest a bilateral trade deal should its preferential access to the US market be taken away. This action is prompted by increasing worries that the Trump administration could change trade policies, which might impact South Africa’s status under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
