SPL: ‘You’re a disappointment, without Saudi you’d never have visited White House’ – Al-Faraj slams Ronaldo

Saudi football pundit, Walid Al-Faraj has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo for his continued protest against the Saudi Public Investment Fund, PIF.

The expert mentioned Ronaldo’s visit to U.S. President Donald Trump earlier in the year as part of his harsh criticism of the Portuguese player.

Al-Faraj, as reported by A Bola, said that Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have thought he was more important and influential in the Saudi Pro League than he actually is.

The respected expert told the player to change his approach or go elsewhere, saying that Saudi Arabia offers him better money and has made him more important than Europe ever did.

“Cristiano Ronaldo needs to know his place. This country is named Saudi Arabia, not Ronaldo’s Arabia. He thinks being an ambassador is the same as being a manager.

“He’s been a disappointment. He works there, makes a salary like a millionaire – more than he’s ever made in Europe – and he has to respect the league, or he has to go.

“Picture a Manchester City player choosing not to take part in a game because they disagree with the choices made by the club’s owner. An Arsenal player is refusing to play two games because he isn’t happy with the new contract offer.

“A player wouldn’t dare try that in the Premier League.”

The pundit added that without Cristiano Ronaldo’s connection to Saudi Arabia, the former Real Madrid and Juventus star would never have had the chance to visit the White House like he did in November.

“We could give him 500 years and Ronaldo would never step into the White House. If he wasn’t part of the Saudi team, he wouldn’t have gotten near the door,” he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been in the news a lot recently because he decided to go on strike to show his disagreement with the PIF.

The 41-year-old did not play in either of Al-Nassr’s last two matches against Al-Riyadh and Al-Ittihad because he chose not to take part in the games.

Ronaldo has reportedly shared his conditions for coming back to play for the Knights of Najd, and is also considering his next steps.

The former Real Madrid star signed a two-year deal with the club last summer but is prepared to leave for £43 million this summer if his demands are not met.
