Health Canada issues a notice about the choking hazard from a number of stuffed animals as Canadians celebrate the holidays with gifts and feasts. On Christmas Eve, Toronto-based Chantia Income recalled 120 Mother and Baby plush toys from Health Canada. The recall includes elephant, giraffe, cat, cat and dragon comfortable toys featuring the mother and child versions. Between May 2023 and December 2024, the products were produced in China and sold in Canada. According to Health Canada, its sampling and analysis program determined that the furry creatures did not comply with the toys ‘ requirements under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act. ” The painful plastic eyes does detach, posing a strangling threat to young children”, the agency said. As of Dec. 16, no injury or occurrences had been reported to the business, Health Canada said. People are urged to “immediately quit” using the recalled products and return them for payments. The afflicted products have the product number P273585 and UPC code 8140239986. Children’s products, including plush products and their components, are among the slew of products included in the federal government’s two-month” income vacation” that kicked in on Dec. 14.
