Former Nigerian international Taiye Taiwo shared how his experience with the Flying Eagles at the FIFA U-20 World Cup led to his signing with Marseille. After showcasing exceptional talent in the tournament and earning the Bronze Ball award, Taiwo made a move to Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille. Reflecting on his journey, the ex-QPR defender described his transfer to the prominent Ligue 1 team as miraculous during an interview with Lasgidi FM. “I was fortunate,” Taiwo remarked. “It seemed miraculous to transition from the U-20 tournament to joining a prestigious team like Marseille.” I consistently express gratitude to God for that chance. “We were all incredibly pleased to represent Nigeria.” We had an amazing coach who granted us plenty of freedom, which enabled us to showcase our best abilities. “We supported each other while playing, and that was the key aspect.”
