Every detail of Temi Otedola’s classic wedding, from hand-pleated gowns to heirloom-inspired coral beads, was woven with meaning and told a story of history and love. Temi and Mr. Eazi celebrated a Yoruba ceremony at the Otedola family residence in Dubai two weeks after signing their union papers. Temi shared,” I wanted some of my favorite designers and geniuses to create standard Nigerian attire, and I was blown apart by their views.” The end result was a marriage that honored family story while reimagining couture bridal attire in Nigeria. A study of artistic style was the theme of her first look. A serious bow and trailing teach complete Zac Posen’s white gown with razor-sharp pleats. Eazi matched her class in an agbada, helmet, and cane, giving him the gravitas of an heritage portrait, and Temi’s gele was expertly sculpted, her diamonds had a classic flair. Temi described his design as” a gorgeous take on the classic Yoruba wedding silhouette,” adding that “designing this gown with Zac was a dream.” Temi switched to a deep crimson scarf with embroidery and a powder-blue corset blouse with decorative rosettes at the arms. The pièce maîtresse, perhaps? A coast, courtesy of Miss Sohee, who is essentially couture’s wife of the bay. It was proudly marital and strong. Temi leaped into history for the second look. Every step of the way is dance, as Lisa Folawiyo reimagines the dressy, beaded dress with fringe. An okuku headband and a pile of coral stones piled higher sealed the deal. The appearance was in a way that Eazi’s late mom, who had sent Temi ideas photos before her departure, made this moment painfully romantic. Definitely stunning, right?
