The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that the late Peter Rufai, former Super Eagles goalkeeper, was a genuine Nigerian icon. This statement was made by the party’s spokesperson, Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi, in Abuja on Friday. “Rufai, affectionately known as Dodo Mayana, was a genuine legend in Nigerian football. He was among the greatest goalkeepers ever to don the green and white,” he noted. Abdullahi further emphasized that Rufai embodied the brilliance, bravery, and tenacity characteristic of the Nigerian spirit. He mentioned that with every save and opportunity to play, Rufai passionately represented Nigeria with unparalleled skill and elegance. Abdullahi offered the party’s condolences to Rufai’s family, friends, the Nigerian football community, and all who were influenced by his legacy. He expressed hopes that Rufai’s memory would continue to motivate future generations to strive, serve, and shine, just as he did.
