The army has successfully rescued seven individuals who were abducted in Taraba.

Members of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have successfully rescued seven individuals who were kidnapped in Taraba State during a targeted operation aimed at eliminating criminal hideouts. The victims were taken on August 3, 2025, along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari Road by alleged kidnappers. Military sources indicated that the rescue effort occurred over two days—August 5 and 6—when troops conducted operations in the area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that four victims were recovered unharmed in Chinkai Forest on the first day, while the other three women were rescued on the second day in the Owedi community, within Wukari Local Government Area. The kidnappers allegedly escaped after encountering the troops’ superior firepower, leaving their captives behind. Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, commended the soldiers for their courage and dedication, stating that the operation represented a major win in the ongoing battle against kidnapping in the state and pledged to continue the fight against criminal organizations throughout Taraba.
