Maodo Malick Mbaye, former director general of the Agence nationale de la maison de l’outil (Anamo) and well-known figure of the Alliance pour la République (Apr), has been questioned by the Section de recherches (SR) of the gendarmerie de Thiès, before being released on summons. According to information obtained by Seneweb, the arrest occurred after several weeks of tracking. Maodo Malick Mbaye, absent from the country at the time the case broke, had evaded justice since the opening of the investigation in April. It concerns an alleged misappropriation of public funds estimated at CFAF 500 million within Anamo. At the time of the outbreak of the scandal, the SR de Thiès had already proceeded to the deportation of a dozen persons linked to this dossier. Maodo Malick Mbaye, then abroad, had not yet been heard. It is désormais chose faite, mais l’ancien directeur has not been maintenu en garde à vue.
