The Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State, CC Bala Bawa, expressed no regrets about his assignment, viewing it as a duty to serve. He made this statement during a celebration of his first 100 days in office at the command’s headquarters in Dutse. Bawa noted that despite facing some security challenges, such as conflicts between farmers and herders, vandalism, theft, armed robbery, and kidnapping, Jigawa remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. He shared that he has implemented various strategies to improve the state’s security after his deployment.
“My time in Jigawa has allowed me to contribute to the peace, unity, and socio-economic stability of the region,” Bawa commented. During his tenure, achievements include the beautification of the command headquarters, multiple arrests of significant suspects, recovery of stolen goods, protection of key infrastructures, fighting crime, enhancing cooperation with other agencies, and ensuring safety in places of worship.
He praised the cooperation of the state government, traditional authorities, other security agencies, and the media in promoting safety. Additionally, Bawa called on the public to provide security forces with crucial information to aid in crime prevention. On behalf of the Jigawa State Governor, Security Adviser Usman Muhammad Jahun applauded the commandant for his significant accomplishments in his first 100 days and confirmed the state government’s ongoing support.
