The President of the Republic, Mr Bassirou Diomaye Faye, visited Thiaroye-sur-Mer on Saturday, an area hard hit by the recent torrential rains. In his address to the victims, the Head of State expressed his sympathy and offered comfort, stressing that the suffering of the population was not ignored and that the State would remain mobilized alongside them. Accompanied by several local officials and the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, the President spoke directly with the affected families, listening to their grievances and sharing their distress. This strong gesture, welcomed by the inhabitants, gave hope to thousands of citizens who had been struggling for several days with the floods and their dramatic consequences. “To see the President here, among us, is the baume au cœur. We feel we are being supported”, confides an inhabitant of Unité 25 aux Parcelles Assainies. I have to say, Mr President.
