The Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s U20 football team, arrived in Abidjan on Tuesday morning in preparation for two friendly matches against Côte d’Ivoire’s Young Elephants. The delegation was headed by NFF Executive Member Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi. Coach Aliyu Zubairu has chosen 21 players for this series, including team captain Daniel Bameyi, first-choice goalkeeper Ifeanyi Harcourt, defender Haruna Aliyu, midfielder Cletus Simon, and forwards Clinton Japhet and Olalekan Sulaiman Alabi. The matches are set to take place at Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny in the Ivorian capital, starting at 3:30 PM CIV time (4:30 PM Nigeria time) on Wednesday. Additionally, Ahmed Musa has called on the government and NFF to investigate the death of a Nigerian player in Uganda.
