Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has provided financial assistance to 8,225 secondary school girls throughout the state. This information was released in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, on Wednesday. As stated, each girl received N40,000 to support their education and encourage them to remain in school. The recipients were chosen from the most impoverished and vulnerable families across all 14 local government areas in the state. The N40,000 is intended for the first term. An additional N10,000 will be provided in both the second and third terms, raising the overall amount to N60,000 for each school session. ‘Governor Lawal has sanctioned a total of N322 million for the initial group of girls.’ “Plans to assist additional girls in the next round are already established,” the statement indicated. Additionally, it revealed that the funding was allocated through two initiatives: the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) and the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE).
