The head of EIB, Echefu, stated that the military can overcome insurgency challenges using weapons produced locally.

Dr. Bright Echefu, the Chairman and Managing Director of EIB Group, announced that the Nigerian military is now equipped to tackle insurgency with domestically produced weapons. This declaration was made during a media tour of EIB Group’s facilities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where local drones, bombs, and other military gear were showcased. He emphasized that Nigeria can fight insecurity without relying on foreign assistance, as local companies are now capable of producing essential military equipment. “Currently, Nigeria is able to combat this insurgency thanks to the substantial investments made by local firms,” he remarked. Dr. Echefu also pointed out that the military is actively collaborating with local manufacturers through partnerships, protective measures, and direct acquisitions. He noted that this collaboration is fostering self-sufficiency in Nigeria’s defense capabilities. Additionally, he mentioned that EIB Group is aiding in drone operations across several northern states to gather intelligence on terrorists hiding in forests, stating, “Our objective is to completely eradicate these terrorists from our territory.” He also highlighted that the Nigerian Air Force now has the capability to maintain and service its aircraft with local resources. Dr. Echefu urged the government to continue its support for local companies and enhance policies that encourage the development of the defense sector.
