The health district of Birkilane confirms a bad news

The district sanitaire of Birkilane has notified two cases of Crimée Congo hemorrhagic fever. The district sanitaire of Birkilane, in the region of Kaffrine (centre), has recorded one death among the two cases of Crimée Congo hemorrhagic fever confirmed in this department, as reported by the APS of the regional director of health, Dr Mbaye Thiam. According to the Regional Director of Health of Kaffrine, 51 cases of contacts identified are currently being monitored by the competent services. The Ministry of Health had reminded the population to keep their composure and to go to hospitals at the first symptoms for early treatment. The Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever is a disease transmitted from animals to humans through ticks, after the appearance of the first case at the end of April 2023. The virus is hosted by wild and domestic animals. Its transmission to humans occurs through “direct contact with the blood or tissues of infected animals”.
