The Imo state government has established a unit dedicated to preventing vandalism in order to safeguard public infrastructure.

Concerned about the ongoing destruction of government properties by unidentified vandals, the State Government has established a special taskforce through the office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance. During the taskforce’s inauguration, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, the SA to the Governor, expressed alarm over the rapid vandalism of state-owned facilities and emphasized that this behavior hinders the State’s development. To combat this issue, the Imo State Government has introduced an Anti-Vandalism Unit tasked with preventing further damage to government property. This unit will start operations immediately and aims to identify and apprehend those responsible for the vandalism. Nze Nwaneri called on citizens to support the taskforce by reporting any vandalism of public facilities using the provided phone numbers, 09024053508 and 08139128766. He assured that the governor’s office will closely monitor the situation and take all necessary action to stop further vandalism.
