After nearly seven weeks of intense hearings and more than two days of deliberations, the long-awaited verdict in the trial of Sean Combs, aka P. Diddy, this is tombé. The celebrated American music producer and entrepreneur was acquitted of charges of sex trafficking and criminal association, but found guilty of two counts of transporting people for prostitution. The federal jury in Manhattan rendered its verdict Wednesday morning. The most serious charges, notably those of sex trafficking and participation in an association of criminals – crimes punishable by life imprisonment – have been dismissed. It is a major relief for the defence, which had denounced on several occasions the “vicious proceedings” and a “media lynching” aimed at killing an icon of the African-American music industry. “We are happy that the truth has triumphed on certain points”, said Jordan Kramer, one of the star’s lawyers.
