Released as a trainée de poudre by the Cour des Comptes, the report on the public financial situation from 2019 to the beginning of March 2024 continues to arouse public debate. The report is a catastrophe, scandalous or explosive, it speaks of excessive debts, manipulation of figures, misappropriation of public funds, etc… In addition to the publication of the report by the Court of Auditors, the Sonko government made a statement to the press on Thursday. Mr Cheikh Diba, the Minister for Budget and Finance, called on the Senegalese people to step up the pace: “This report is a faithful photograph, its publication is a duty towards the Senegalese people”. The Minister of Finance and Budget continues to stress that their responsibility is to do better, for today and for future generations. “We must restore confidence, strengthen financial sovereignty and ensure public financial management. From now on every franc spent must be justified. Each budgetary commitment must be optimised.
