The Naira sees significant appreciation against the US dollar as external reserves keep increasing.  

The Naira saw a substantial increase against the US dollar by the end of the week on Friday, as external reserves continued to rise. According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Naira strengthened to N1,455.17 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,442.403 the previous day. This indicates that in the official foreign exchange markets, the Naira gained N11.48 against the dollar from one day to the next. DAILY POST reports that this upward trend in Africa’s most populous nation’s currency is the highest noted during the week. The Naira last peaked at this level the previous Thursday, climbing to N1,455.24. In the black market, it appreciated to N1,503 per dollar on Friday, an increase from N1,505 the day before. This change coincides with a growth in the country’s external reserves, which reached $42.58 billion by October 9, 2025, up from $42.40 billion on October 2.
