L’avocat Maître Baba Diop has approached the Procureur de la République près le Tribunal de Grande Instance hors classe de Dakar to request the registration of the dossier concerning Abdou Nguer, who has been detained for nearly six months. In a letter dated 11 September 2025, l’avocat recalls that the proceedings instituted by the judge of the 3e cabinet, concerning various offences alleged against his client, have been closed and transmitted for more than a month. According to Mr Diop, it is now necessary to fix a date for the hearing in order to allow the defence to exercise fully the rights of the detainee. He states that the facts alleged against Abdou Nguer relate to his interventions in various media programmes, accusations which he has denied since the preliminary investigation. “Today, it is time to fix the hearing, in order to allow us to exercise the rights of our charge”, writes Me Baba Diop in his correspondence addressed to the Prosecutor. While awaiting the fixation of this hearing, the defence relies on the diligence of the public prosecutor to ensure respect for the rights of his client, who is still in custody.
