Tsakani- U9, U11 and U13 soccer teams went head-to-head in the semi-final and final games at the Back to School Tournament at Malandela ground in Tsakani on February 1.

The game started on a good note for the U9 Amy Foundation Football Academy team as they scored two goals within the first half of the game.

They further scored three more goals within the second half, which resulted in a win of 5- 4.

Their coach, Kgotso Maluke, said the first half favoured his team, saying his team created scoring opportunities from all corners of the ground.

“We reached the poles on time, remained consistent, attacked the other team, and that is how we could score our first goals.

“We dominated the game and tricked our opponents into giving us the ball.

“We exercised all our tricks towards winning the game as our opponents came on to us strongly,” explained Maluke.

He elaborated winning the game was not easy; they fought a battle that ended up favouring their side.

“Our opponents came prepared, skilful and ready to crush us but we overcame all obstacles,” he added.

He continued, “My players shared the ball accordingly on the ground; they communicated tactically.”

Maluke cited he was glad his team won the game.

Letsetele coach Tisetso Mofokeng said they hoped to score three goals within the first half.

“When we equalised with our opponents, I thought we would win the game. There were minor mistakes in the first half which we rectified within in the second half and that led us towards scoring four goals,” he said.

He mentioned he was beyond pleased with how his team performed, mentioning his U9 team has drastically improved their football skills.

“They played the game with enthusiasm. They remained focused, and I am delighted with the energy they displayed on the field,” said Mofokeng.Semi-final results:
