The National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) warns of potentially intense rainstorms that could affect a large part of the Senegalese territory from Wednesday afternoon until Sunday morning. Significant rainfall, up to 50 mm, is expected in some areas, particularly in the east (Tambacounda, Kédougou) and the south (Kolda, Sédhiou, Ziguinchor). The probability of heavy precipitation is estimated between 30 and 65% depending on the locality and the day. The storms will begin in the southern and eastern regions in the afternoon of 11 June, before gradually moving towards the centre of the country. Des débordements sont possibles vers le Centre-ouest et le Nord, y compris Dakar, Thiès et Louga, dans la journée de jeudi 12 et vendredi 13 juin. (Operations are possible to the centre-west and north, including Dakar, Thiès and Louga, in the daytime on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 June.) The ANACIM underlines that the zone Nord, notably Saint-Louis et Podor, will remain relatively spared by these disturbances. However, the agency urges the populations of the exposed areas to exercise caution and to follow up on future weather reports.
The weather forecast is for strong showers and storms.
