Le quartier médina Niang oryx, situated à Thiaroye sur mer, was the theatre of a tragic event which cost the life of Abdou faye, a young promising footballer aged only 16 years. According to the testimonies collected by the Observer and relayed by Seneweb, this drama originated from a banal altercation which degenerated into a violent fight, last Saturday. It all started with a confrontation between Abdou Faye and the brother cadet of the presumed murderer. The latter, known as Diaw, allegedly acted out of revenge after his younger brother was involved in a quarrel with the victim. Driven by a spirit of reprisal, Diaw would have taken a fatal decision. According to the testimonies, he would have been taken to a boutique in the neighborhood or he would have asked the merchant to sell him a knife. Without asking questions, the shopkeeper hands him a weapon in exchange for a modest sum of 100 FCFA. After hiding the knife under his clothes, Diaw heads towards Abdou Faye and gives him a fatal blow to the chest, leaving him lifeless.
