No fewer than three persons have lost their lives, while eight others sustained varying degrees of injuries on Sunday morning in a fatal road crash at Elete community in Kogi State.
Witnesses said the accident happened when a commercial bus rammed into a truck that had broken down along the Elete corridor.
The impact left several passengers trapped inside the vehicle, with many suffering serious injuries.
Residents of the area, alongside emergency responders, reportedly mobilised swiftly to the scene, pulling victims from the wreckage and conveying the injured to nearby health facilities for immediate treatment.
The incident occurred within Ajaokuta Local Government Area, a location officials emphasised should not be mistaken for Okene LGA.
Locals described the aftermath as horrific, noting that the severity of the crash caused extensive destruction.
Following the incident, motorists and community members renewed their appeals for stricter road safety measures, particularly the installation of visible warning signs for broken-down vehicles, to avert future loss of lives.
